The Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar is the official calendar of Nepal, approximately 56-57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar. Unlike the Gregorian calendar with fixed month lengths, BS months vary from 29 to 32 days based on astronomical calculations and lunar phases.

Understanding Tithis

Tithis are lunar days in the Hindu calendar system, crucial for determining auspicious times (muhurta) for religious ceremonies, festivals, and important life events. Each month has 30 Tithis divided into two fortnights (Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha). Important Tithis include Purnima (full moon), Amavasya (new moon), and Ekadashi (11th day).
