Gold jewellery price calculator

What a piece actually costs at the counter — metal, making charge and 13% VAT, from the weight in tola, lal, aana or grams.

Hallmark gold is Rs 284,000/tola and silver is Rs 4,350/tola as published by FENEGOSIDA on 2026-08-03. The rate is pre-filled below and stays editable, because what a shop quotes is rarely the published figure to the rupee.

An estimate, not a quotation. Shops differ on making charges and on whether wastage is quoted separately, and a rate moves during the day.

How the bill is put together

  1. Metal. Weight in tola × the rate for that purity. The published rate is for fine gold, so a 22-karat piece is charged on 22/24 of it.
  2. Making charge (jyala). A percentage of the metal cost, commonly 8–20% depending on the design. Ask for it as a figure before agreeing.
  3. Wastage. Some shops quote this on top of the making charge; many fold it in. Enter it only if yours quotes it separately.
  4. VAT at 13%. Charged on the metal and the making charge together — not on the metal alone, which is the mistake that makes an estimate come out below the bill.

1 aana0.729 g1 tola = 16 aana
1 lal0.117 g1 tola = 100 lal

Lal and aana are both fractions of a tola, and they are easy to mix up: a lal is a hundredth, an aana a sixteenth.
